I have no hal.dll usage? Wow. That number is huge. Even doing a live xperf: xperf -on latency -stackwalk profile

I have no hal.dll usage? Wow. That number is huge. Even doing a live xperf: xperf -on latency -stackwalk profile
and stopping it in 15 seconds....
I opened it in xperfview just so I can match graph names in an old article that some awesome dude with very generous amounts and usage of time wrote for another forum a few years ago. I isolated about 1 second and saw 12,257 in a "Count" column. Is this "hal.dll" function "HalpProfileInterupt" nothing more than some sort of port or channel sniffer? (using 15 year old terms, maybe) Is that 12,000 number for a 1 second time period normal?
So an update on the whole machine situation. Problem not solved, but I did do some good. Something sparked my curiosity about the system's audio. In particular, the fancy smancy audio card I purchased and had put in at the time of assembly. No GUI for it like I would have expected. I threw the install disk in, ran through the install and ran through the subsequent update and now have that GUI.
Prior to that, I did a similar thing with my wireless adapter. I had noticed a yellow warning sign on it. Long story short, which included a ton of BSODs, my machine actually boots much quicker now. I use the LAN Ethernet, but apparently somewhere along the line, this wireless device got it's drivers mangled. It was fine at the beginning when I got the machine.
The result of these two items is that my boot up time got cut dramatically. It used to be:
#1: A screen with the Sabertooth logo on it - approx. 15 seconds
#2: The marvel Raid splash screen (why do I have to even have RAID??) 1-2 seconds
#3: A repeat of the first screen - Another approx. 15 seconds
#4: The Windows is starting screen - 1-3 seconds
Now the entire #1 screen from before doesn't even show before the Marvel screen.
So, that's some improvement. hopefully I can stumble on this problem. I'm going to go through my devices and check out driver and installs manually instead of the windows update automatically button as you right-click each device.
