Wish: Better recovery from corrupt boot time process logs
Scenario: We encounter PCs (XP) where the system completely hangs at 'Applying computer settings ...' before the logon dialog box even comes up. To add to our woes, the system drops off the network and becomes inaccessible. We have attempted to enable boot logging in order to troubleshoot this ... but because the system hangs before we can logon, we can't logon to start up Process Monitor and recover the boot log.
Possible easy fix: Some kind of option to tell the boot logging driver to flush/checkpoint the log every N seconds in boot log mode, so that you'd at least have a log that was consistent up to N seconds ago.
