Disk2vhd : disk2vhd hangs and crashes PC

I'm running disk2vhd 2.0 on my laptop, at approx. 5% all operation stops (i'll waited a hour at this point, no difference).
The entire laptops hangs (also no disk activities), when pushing some buttons i'll get a loud beep from the motherboard (it is really crashed now).
There is nothing else to do but keep the power-button down for a few seconds.
After repeating it for a few times (with some minor changes in the environment e.g. backup to internal or external disk), the same result is that the laptop hangs.
I did defrag the disk before i started.
But now i've found the problem (after2 days trying different things).
It looks like there is a bad sector on the disk, disk2vhd can't handle this and it hangs.
Also the error-checking (scandisk) does not identify this as a problem.
I had to run spinrite for fixing this problem.
Now i'm running disk2vhd again and it's now at 70% (looking good so far).
Just wanted to share my experience with disk2vhd.
