Marc, I also came accross this sdelete utility recently. I found a closed thread about this utility with some batch files to use it.

Unfortunately, I have the same problems as you on my Windows 7. The people in the closed thread did not appear to have this problem, so I think it started with Windows 7.
I hope someone will know about this to be able to fix it.
