Subject: Windows 7 Welcome Screen too long

I enabled the Admin account on the machine and used it. So now the long delay is shifted to the Admin account (conclusion: it appears to be the first account that is logged in)
Here are some actual measurements. I ran them repeatedly, and had variations of about 5 seconds. But you can get an overall feel.
1. Login with my account (my original complaint):
Press enter at the password:
40 seconds of blue "Welcome"
25 MORE seconds until the desktop image appears
15 MORE seconds until the UI becomes response (open a text file on the desktop by double clicking on it)
2. To use the trace tool, I log on with the Admin account
Press enter at the password:
25 seconds of blue "Welcome"
20 MORE seconds until the desktop background appears
25 MORE seconds until the UI becomes response
Started the trace tool
Ctrl-Alt-Del and switch user to my account
Press enter at the password:
10 seconds of blue "Welcome"
8 more seconds until the desktop image appears
3. Repeated the test, I log on with the Admin account
Press enter at the password:
30 seconds of blue "Welcome"
15 MORE seconds until the desktop background appears
10 MORE seconds until the UI becomes response
Started the trace tool
Ctrl-Alt-Del and switch user to my account
Press enter at the password:
7 seconds of blue "Welcome"
8 MORE seconds until the desktop image appears
I can't upload the trace file. It tells me there is a 500K limit, and the two traces zipped up are 2.9Meg. One trace is 1.4Meg.
Which is just as well, since I didn't really want a trace of my personal machine on a public forum anyway :-)
Additionally, I don't know if the trace will be of value, because I can't start the diag tool until after the long 'welcome' logon process.
I can email this, private message it, etc...
