Subject: Monitor just goes black and won't wake up

As a correction to the previous post, the power light on the monitor does not turn orange when the monitor goes black. The power light stays yellow and starts flashing just like when I shut the computer down and it turns off before I turn off the monitor.
I think something is telling the monitor that the computer is shut down when it is not.
