Hey!
I created an account just to reply to this thread, as I'm in a good mood, had an identical issue and later found the solution after Googling to no avail. This thread had loads of views so it seems we're not the only ones Coldry. I realize this is a few years old....but in any case:
- This is optional, but to be safe just delete ProcExp.exe off your system and download the latest version.
- Now, do NOT go to the properties of this file and check "Run this program as an administrator" under the compatibility tab.
- Instead, simply right-click the file and "Run as administrator"
- From there you should be able to "Replace Task Manager" in the options, close Process Explorer, and without issues CTRL+SHIFT+ESCAPE to open up your new task manager on steroids.
Do not ask me why this works, but it does!
The key to my post being: Running ProcExp.exe as administrator via. the compatibility method, does something differently that causes the replaced task manager to not work. Right-click and "Run as administrator" instead!
