Subject: Is there a way to see what WUDFHost.exe is hosting

Perfect, thanks Andre. With your guidance process Hacker got me closer, more quickly, than Process Explorer had. Yes, I realize I could see the environment variables in Process Explorer too. I simply hadn't thought to look for devices there. Both tools need to make the leap, just as is done with svchost, to display hosted devices directly.

I have identified the one instance, as hinted above, as hosting the driver for my two external USB MyBook drives.
The other turned out to be the location services simulator, apparently installed by Visual Studio 2013. I don't need location services simulation as I don't plan to develop any Windows Phone or Metro/Modern toys, and I haven't even installed the Windows 8 Phone components of Visual Studio 2013, so I have disabled the driver. Visual Studio seems happy to run without it.
