Subject: DebugView just sits there...

I'm only an "over-enthusiastic semi-Power User", and I wanted to find why my favourite browser was crashing.
So I lit up DebugViewer in Admin, and watched it do absolutely nothing. It showed me nothing about Windows, and nothing about my browser. The Help file had said very little about what prerequisites I needed, and even less about the tool's actual purpose.
I did later download the Symbol Packs for W7 RTM and W7 SP1, however I'm no longer sure the tool is suitable for debugging user apps.
Have I missed anything?
