I am running Process Explorer v15.3 under Windows Professional 7 32-bit; brand new install of OS, all updates successful; only non-MS program installed is Webroot. System up for days connected on secured router to Internet with Process Explorer running.

Process Explorer has not verified and reports "No signature was present in the subject" for the following:
crss.exe - in Image tab of properties it shows no path [Error opening process]; shows 9 threads open and actively being used by CPU; it is actively using two PIDs; unable to access thread when click on "stack"; access denied when try "permissions"; yet "module" shows confirmed Microsoft verification certificate.
pretty much the same with:
audiodg.exe, lsm.exe, services.exe, smss.exe, taskhost.exe, wininit.exe, & winlogon.exe
I'm baffled. Shouldn't Microsoft's own processes be able to have their signatures verified?
