Same to me. I see only a empty property window and it hangs.  No symbols configured. Win 10.0.10586

Any idea?

Thanks Didi

Edit: It works after a reboot...Thumbs Up

Edit2: TeamViewer caused the problem. If it's running, the problem occurs.

Hi

We too have issues with Windows 10. It all worked fine on dual screens on Windows 7 but when we connect 2 monitors on Windows 10, it shifts the image saved to the left.

We have tried tile, stretch and center but none work. If we remove the 2nd monitor and refresh BGInfo the background is OK.

We are using 4.21

Thanks in advance

Martyn

PsTools : Remote registry service stopped working

When I am trying to run psinfo.exe, I routinely get the following error and have to try between 2-6 times to actually get the program to run:

"Remote registry service stopped working"   (this will then close the program and drop me back in the cmd prompt)

Also, it will sometimes attempt to connect to the target computer and then the entire command prompt window will fill with ????'s and then at the very end is some type of blocky looking smiley face that would normally make me think this was a virus if I hadn't gotten it off of technet.

I've tried running in compatibility mode for windows xp sp3, and I always run the cmd prompt as administrator. Not sure what to do to get this to work the first time, every time. Also would like some explanation as to the window full of ???'s with the odd character at the end (This really upset me to see this happen and I have been running nonstop virus scans since)

Process Monitor : Try to find which 32-bit process is acc PerfNet

Getting these error event logs on a server that has 40 logical cores from PerNet, Event ID 2006:
Unable to read Server Queue performance data from the Server service. The first four bytes (DWORD) of the Data section contains the status code, the second four bytes contains the IOSB.Status and the next four bytes contains the IOSB.Information.

Microsoft KB points to an issue if you have more than 32 cores and a 32-bit process is trying to access performance data.  They include a sample vb code that the vendor / process could take advantage of to access this data across a 64-bit interface, however they have no documentation on how to determine WHAT exactly is trying to access this information.

Without knowing what application or process is trying to access performance data, I don't know which vendor to turn to.

Do you know of a way in Process Monitor how I could filter the list to show me what exactly is causing these event ID 2006?  I initially thought to search if Perfmon.dll appears in the path, but that wasn't it.

well then idk what causes the problem but i think the time that is used for capping the highcpu.etl was maybe to small to cover the drops as you can see in afterburner picture. do you have any idea via that etl whats going on?

nvm i fixed the problem ;)   it was an old fix against the heat to turn the max proc state to 99% to get less heat but still good performance. but ingame it causes the lag spike often because he could not use the proc on 100%. with the program for the fanspeed and an external fan under my laptop i dont need the 99% heat fix anymore so i tried it on 100% and no lagspikes! only when its on an autosave moment but thats oke.

Hi

I'm using psexec to remotely query e.g. ip addresses and the remote users site

I have tried countless combinations but it always returns my details not the details of the logged user.  I wish to use get this info into a variable in a script for automation.

I am just looking to query the site the machine is on

how would i e.g. get the site info of the remote computer using e.g.  nltest /dsgetsite
or even echo %computername%  returning the remote computers computername

Thanks for reading

Hi Bill

No you are not on your own. We have just rolled it out a couple of months ago to all our computers (desktops, laptops and engineer toughbooks in the field) and we had it working great on Windows 7

Then this week we tried all our software on Windows 10 and the only two things that didnt work was disk encryption so we will use bitlocker and this. Which is suprising as its a Microsoft Product.

Hope the do update this product ASAP as its become a big help in the short time we had it. especially for the users current IP address.

Thanks

Martyn

Is there a diagram or explanation of the olors that highlight items in Autoruns.
I know that yellow indicates "file not found" but what does the salmon highlight indicate?

Well, not really - at least not initially. It was a Sysinternals product that was pulled into the Microsoft fold when they hired up Mark R. But still - since there was a recent upgrade, and surely many there must use multiple monitors, it would have been nice if this issue was worked out because it is really a nice program otherwise.

you can try and use the command line version.  this appears to pick up the sudirectories, including SPOOL.
pipe the output to CLIP.EXE and then you can simply paste the results into your favorite document editor.

for example.

accesschk -s -l -i c:\windows\system32 | clip.exe

where "|" is pipe (shift backslash key on u.s. keyboards)

& approximately how many 32-bit apps on the system?

The error event is generated every 16 minutes.

What's the best way to determine how many 32-bit programs are installed?  Count up the Program Files (x86) folder?  Surely there are some outside of that.

for an instantaneous check, use process explorer.
run as administrator
select <view> <select columns>
choose the process image tab
put a check next to 'image type'
select O.K.

sort by that column in process explorer.

for a view of processes over a sustained period (and this may help isolate the offending process)
run process monitor.

select <file> and then select <capture events> to REMOVE the check next to capture events.
type CTRL-X to clear the display
select <filter> and then <filter> from the drop down menu
in the FILTER selection box, select ARCHITECTURE IS then choose 32-bit and INCLUDE
select <add>
select <OK>

now start capturing data by selecting <file> and <capture events>

you can output the capture to a CSV file.
import this file to excel using "commas" as the deliminator
select all the columns in excel and then on the "data" tab in excel select the "filter"
click on the process names column header in excel and you should have a concise list of 32 bit processes executed over time.

Process Explorer : Bugs with notification area icons

Hi!

I recently started using more than one icon. To my surpries they can't be reordered in a way that's logical.

When I pull one of the icons it the others a reordered too. Without any particular logic behind it.

I suspect it's a bug in the code that groups the procexp icons together.

For example: I found no way of creating this order: CPU usage, GPU usage, Physical usage, Current Commit.

PS:
The way I have my taskbar the notification area icons are in multiple rows of maximum five icons. Which might be a factor int his.
