Question is: is it safe to cancel SDelete when it has reached 100%?
In -z mode it seems to write to X:\SDELTEMP just fine.
So I cancelled SDelete at 100% by pressing Ctrl+C.
Looking at the disk with FTK Imager Lite, the [unallocated space] is filled with zeros.

BTW, can you guys recommend what Defrag tool you use in your Windows VMs?
(not Windows' default one I hope, which is so bad)

Windows 10 1709

If I run the following with v4.23:
bginfo.exe bginfo.bgi /timer:0 /nolicprompt  --> the program hangs
bginfo.exe bginfo.bgi /timer:1 /nolicprompt  --> ok

If I do so with v4.22: ok both

So please fix the failure! Thank you

Yes having the same issue it will only apply if I set the timer to 0 when I also set a background image I'm setting a background file from \\domain.local\NETLOGON\Files\Desktop Background\something.jpg

if I take this away it works but I need to set the background & having the timer set to 1 is messy for the users

Hello,

I have the same issue for BGinfo automation.
BUT ...
When i run :
Bginfo.exe SG_OSDBranding.bgi /timer:0 /silent /Nolicprompt
Then i press "ENTER" Button, it works.

Do you think is possible to have a fix for V4.23 ?

Regards

I have the same issue and the command "bginfo file.bgi /timer:0 /silent /nolicprompt" doesn't work.
nothing appends but bginfo.exe is still running in the task manager. I have to kill the process.

default tool is fine. all 3rd party tools are snakeoil, which improve nothing.

If I'm not too late with my reply,

make sure to install Intel MEI driver for your motherboard, and

see if something from here can help you.

Obviously not true. Advanced defraggers have options to move files to a either the start or end of the drive and if the goal is to minimize the size of a virtual disk you want all files at one end before you zero the free space (if the virtual disk is also compressed because longer runs of zero blocks will compress better).

This is also useful for real physical drivers. Stuffing large video files etc. at the end of the drive (the slow part of the drive) so the faster parts are free for other things.

On my Windows 10 system, I changed today from a 32-bit version of Process Explorer circa 2015 to a 64-bit v.16.21 copy I just downloaded. I use the options "Run At Logon" and "Hide When Minimized".
And it runs at logon, but unlike the earlier version the icon doesn't appear in the system tray except when I select "Show hidden icons".
I'd like to have it appear in the tray again; how do I do that?
Right click to shift

Miscellaneous Utilities : Sysmon feature Request: Log ACL Changes

Subject: Sysmon feature Request: Log ACL Changes
Posted: 02 January 2018 at 3:56pm

Hi,
I have another suggestion for a new Sysmon feature. There were some presentations at Derbycon this year regarding stealthy persistence via the modification of various ACLs.

Most Notably: https://www.slideshare.net/harmj0y/an-ace-in-the-hole-stealthy-host-persistence-via-security-descriptors

But also: http://www.irongeek.com/i.php?page=videos/derbycon7/t101-here-be-dragons-the-unexplored-land-of-active-directory-acls-andy-robbins-will-schroeder-rohan-vazarkar

This sort of change is currently pretty hard to detect. I'm wondering whether it might make sense to build logging for changes to existing ACLs into Sysmon.

Other ways to limit log volume from this might be to only log changes that reduce the restrictions on an ACL, rather than increasing them.

Thoughts?

Process Monitor : Program runs faster if ProcMon runs. Why?

Subject: Program runs faster if ProcMon runs. Why?

Hi all,

today I've made a strange observation that I retried countless times, because I can hardly believe it:
If I run the Process Monitor with active capturing, the application I try to analyze runs significantly faster. Can anyone explain what may be the reason for this? I would expect that the application runs slower with capturing going on in the background :-)

All the best
