I think I reproduced your error. Are you running Process Explorer and then pinning the 'process' to the task bar? When I do that (on Windows 7/64) I get exactly the same result you get. Ironically It's proof that it did create procexp64.exe. The problem is that it probably created it in %temp% and then deleted it upon exiting. ![]()

![]() I also d/l 15.40 back in August and it regularly stops working within a minute or two on my Win7/64 Home Premium PC. My XP.pro laptop is running 15.40 without issue. I haven't bothered to investigate before now and find that 15.31 seems to work without issue on the Win7 PC, with one exception. When I run 15.31, it doesn't create a procexp64.exe file. So if I if pin it to the task bar, then close it, when I try to reopen it I get this error msg: ![]() So I'm back to v15.23 for now. < ="text/"> |
Try creating a shortcut to your procexp.exe executable (I usually put these in my Start Menu so they won't get lost), and then pin that to your task bar. I just tried it and it works with version 15.31.
Procexp.exe is meant to be started as a 32 bit executable, and decide on its own if it needs to spawn the 64 bit version and it will handle it completely. See below (sorry about the quality):
Process explorer is launched as a 32 bit process:

By the way why not just replace task manager with Process Explorer? Then you won't have to worry about how to launch it.
