Subject: Using Sysmon to track nuisance temp folders
Posted: 20 August 2014 at 8:09pm
Hi all, for the last five months a process has been writing temporary folders in the Temp folder once a day, usually at startup, with the format mmddhhmm-xxxxxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx (08201132-000007c0-33zg9occfz for example, created today).
The Temp folder fills up with these nuisance folders and they have to be manually deleted. This started the day I installed Google Chrome. I uninstalled Chrome a week ago, but the folders still appear in Temp. I thought Sysmon could help track the culprit; can anyone give me step by step directions, or suggest another program/method? I'm using Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium.
Thanks
