Miscellaneous Utilities : Page Defrag and Windows 7

Pagefile fragmentation is rarely a serious issue and usually isn't an issue at all. By default the NT platform has always used a semi-fixed pagefile. The initial size is usually large enough for normal use but can be expanded if necessary for exceptional needs. This should be considered an emergency measure, not something that happens on a regular basis. Using a system managed pagefile does not change this. The idea that such a pagefile is constantly being resized according to the situation is a myth.

If the initial pagefile is unfragmented it will remain so. The extended portion may be fragmented but it will revert back to the initial state on a restart.
