Process Explorer 16.02.
I have not found anything in the documentation, nor the forum.
In the Process Context Menu, what does the option "Temp" do?

Thanks

Miscellaneous Utilities : ShellRunAs.exe and msc files

Im trying to use ShellRunAs.exe to run application under my Admin account with smartcard.

This works for most applications, but not for the Domain admin tools like Active Directory Users and computers.
I have tried  various command:

C:\Path\to\shellrunas.exe C:\windows\system32\dsa.msc
this results in a popup from ShellRunAs:
Error launching program:
The system cannot find the file specified

C:\Path\to\shellrunas.exe  c:\windows\system32\mmc.exe c:\windows\system32\dsa.msc
This results in a run as dialog as expected, once i authenticate under a different user i get:
Error launching application:
the requested operation requires elevation.

How can i get this to work, without changing any group policies, i just want this to work like other programs.

Im using Windows 8 x64

Hope someone knows.

Nico

Process Monitor : Server Crashes When Running ProcMon with App

Subject: Server Crashes When Running ProcMon with App
Posted: 30 July 2014 at 4:27pm

I'm having a weird issue that I've never seen before in all my times running ProcMon. I have a client who has a few Citrix servers set up where-in a 3rd party application is installed. This 3rd party application has been crashing a lot lately and so I'm trying to run ProcMon to try and investigate. However, what's happening is that when I run ProcMon prior to opening this 3rd party application, the entire server crashes but when I run the application prior to opening ProcMon the server doesn't crash.

We ordered a new server (08 r2 8gb ram 4cpu 2.7ghz xeon) and installed the 3rd party app and the entire server still crashes when we run procmon prior to running the 3rd party application.

Any ideas?

Any information is appreciated.

Thanks

have you tried to configure process monitor to start at bootup (bootlogging) to see if there is any valuable information captured?

Why? Just use TASKKILL

TASKKILL /F /FI "WINDOWTITLE eq note*"

The above will kill all window titled applications that have NOTE in them. (i.e. notepad)

or

TASKKILL /IM notepad.*

Will kill all notepad.exe application windows. -WS

I probably am not allowed to say anything...but...I have XP, had that happen about 5 months ago. Video Driver card shot.
Re-connected to the built in video on the motherboard, worked fine. Swapped in an ancient video card I had saved, still working five months later.
Worth a try if you have a video output on the actual motherboard...it's free, no expense incurred.

Just my recent experience....

Autoruns is not the right tool for adjusting startup times.
Run crap cleaner, then use hijackthis.

I'm trying to use disk2vhd in a .bat file, with :

disk2vhd.exe e:  e:\VHD\%MOIS%\semaine\%J%-%M%-%A%\disk.vhd >e:\VHD\vhd.txt

It's working, but there is nothing in vhd.txt, it's still a 0ko file...

How can i have\use log with disk2vdh, to know if it's succed or not

PsExec.exe for 64 bit Windows:

This is related to following error occurring when PsExec is invoked in Msbuild on a 64 bit windows.

'psexec' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
  operable program or batch file.

And PsExec is already placed in the Windows/System32/

Is PsExec.exe for 64 bit Windows is available?

How to resolve the above problem if we still use the 32 bit binary on the PSExec executable?

Before Windows can use the RAM again it must be overrden with zeros. This causes the CPU usage for the kernel in your case:

ntkrnlmp.exe!KeZeroPages

The rest of the cpu usage comes from Firefox/Flash

Ahhh that is because you are in the wrong folder. That is the message you get when the application is not found. You need to open a command prompt in the folder where you extracted PSTOOLS and run it from there or you can modify your path to include the folder or you can copy the *.exe files to the \windows\syswow64 or \windows\system32 folder. -WS

Undo whatever automatic startup you have for BGInfo to run and optionally DELETE the software. -WS
